Welcome, 2017!!

Well, ready or not, 2017 is here!! A new year can help us mark a "new start" in our lives and can even help us feel a spark of hope as we dare to dream and believe for great things in the next 365 days.

If you're on any social media sites, you've been seeing a gazillion different challenges and projects that you can do in this next year. Plus, there are always those dreaded "New Year's Resolutions." I always felt like I had failed before I had even begun when I made one of those! So, I decided to change my approach just slightly, and if you're like me, maybe you will want to consider that too.

Instead of making "resolutions" for this new year, set "goals." Goals are actionable, achievable, trackable. Goals are quantifiable, whereas resolutions tend to be more obscure and open-ended. For example, a goal would be: "I will read 5 books this year." A resolution would be: "I will read more this year." The goal is defined and easily tracked. Make sense?

Now that you're thinking about your 2017 goals, the next step is to WRITE THEM DOWN. This is very important! It helps your brain to remember and recall these choices that you've made. I would suggest writing them down on a nice piece of paper and then put that paper someplace where you will see it everyday (ie. bathroom or bedroom). If it's out of sight, it's usually out of mind; so keep it in your sights! Once you've met a goal (you'll most likely meet quite a few of them before the end of the year!), put a "check" mark on it and write the date beside it. It's SO empowering to look back and see that you were able to conquer and accomplish some of your goals!

New years can often help us feel like we have new chances to make changes. You have these chances every day and it's never too late to start! Remember, we at Care Net are here to give you the support you need to help you make good and healthy choices for your life. You don't have to do this alone! We can be on the sidelines cheering you on! You don't need to be pregnant, or even have children, to come to the center. We are here to help YOU help yourself. There's no time like the present to start.

I loved your post referring to setting goals and writing them down. I've always done the same and refer to that list often during the year to measure progress. Grant Cardone of "The 10x Rule" also said to read your goals out loud each morning and night. The reason is your mind will think about those goals and find a way to achieve them. Taking "action" is always the best course of action even if you do not have all things figured out. Just by taking action, other avenues will reveal themselves as you go. But action always gets things done! Happy new year with lots of love !
